Abstract

We demonstrate how the error-detection capabilities of the inner code in an experimental rate-adaptive concatenated FEC scheme can be employed to reduce the computational complexity of the nonlinearity compensation block. Total complexity savings between 17% and 95% are reported depending on the target operating point.
