Subcarrier-Enabled Record Field Trial Demonstration in a Dispersion Uncompensated Ultra-Long Transpacific Cable

Abstract

A record real-time transmission is demonstrated over an 18,008 km dispersion uncompensated subsea cable, enabled by subcarrier-based EEPN mitigation and FEC. Numerical analysis supports the field trial’s real-time measurements, quantifying the benefit of subcarrier modulation.
