Abstract

A reconfigurable photonic integrated reservoir based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer nodes is proposed. It can be programmed to adapt to different baud-rate IMDD systems for PAM-4 signal recognition. The photonic reservoir-based receivers can achieve a lower bit error rate and consume 0.5 × power compared to their conventional electronic counterparts.
