Abstract
The Ti:sapphire-pumped noncritically phase- matched optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on the material LiB3O5 (LBO) offers unrivaled continuous tuning in the near-infrared. We previously reported a high-repetition-rate temperature-tuned noncritically phase-matched picosecond LBO OPO which produced 1-2 ps signal and idler pulses over the continuous wavelength range 1-2.5 μm at hundreds of milliwatts of average power[1]. We have now extended the spectral coverage of the device to the visible region by intracavity frequency-doubling the OPO signal pulses to provide transform- limited 840-fs pulses in the 584-771 nm range, with average powers as high as 320 mW.
