Abstract
Integrated optoelectronic devices are of increasing interest for high-speed signal acquisition and processing applications. Both guided-wave and conventional optoelectronic structures have been hybridized to provide important processing capabilities not readily achievable with all-electronic devices. Here, our experimental work on two wideband devices is reviewed and several new types of integrated optical signal processing devices are discussed. In particular, the current status of electrooptic A/D converters and optoelectronic switches and sampling devices is summarized and discussions given of a new guided-wave/CCD correlator structure and of the use of guided-wave/ optoelectronic devices for optical interconnections in electronic integrated circuit systems.
