Abstract
The use of picosecond light pulses for direct switching and control of logic states in ultrafast integrated circuits1,2 has numerous important applications, including new and unambiguous ways of characterizing the speeds of such circuits, contact-free diagnosis of problems and failures, as well as novel architectural possibilities for data input and interconnections in future high-speed data processors.
