Abstract
We have demonstrated that microwave pumping is a simple technique for producing relatively long pulse excimer lasers. High power 9.375-GHz pulses have been used to construct a 100-nsec long 308-nm XeCl* excimer laser. Such systems may be useful as a well-controlled oscillator producing pulses for a high power amplifier chain. The device is easily constructed with high vacuum halogen compatible materials and is free from electrode sputtering problems.
