The NIH Public Access Policy (http://publicaccess.nih.gov/) states that peer-reviewed manuscripts that received NIH funding and are accepted for publication in a journal on or after April 7, 2008, should be deposited with PubMed Central within 12 months of publication. OSA acknowledges the NIH policy and the author's right to place eligible OSA journal articles in PubMed Central.
Biomedical Optics Express authors: Please note that OSA automatically submits all published articles to PMC.
OSA has implemented a technology solution that supports U.S. federal agency public access requirements and helps authors comply with governmental mandates to make their federally funded articles publicly available after a 12-month embargo. By partnering with CHORUS (Clearinghouse for the Open Research of the United States), OSA enables an option for readers and agencies to easily discover federally funded articles published by OSA and to then access the full-text of these articles directly on OSA's platform, OSA Publishing.
OSA journals meet Wellcome Trust requirements for open access for their authors. This includes deposit on behalf of funded authors of the final peer-reviewed version of the article with PubMed Central immediately upon issue publication, without embargo. It also includes publication under a CC BY license.
