Re-review

Characteristics of a Re-review

You may be asked to review a revised manuscript.  If so, the practical steps you will engage in are similar to those you carry out when reviewing an original submission.  Some differences are:

  • You will have access to previous reports from other reviewers, as well as the authors’ response to reviewer comments, in Prism.
  • Your comments should focus on whether appropriate changes have been made in response to your original comments, not new concerns, unless they are vitally important (such as ethical concerns).
  • While most original submissions have at least two reviewers, sometimes you may be the only person re-reviewing the manuscript.   You may therefore also comment on any other reports, and the authors’ responses to them.
