Photonics Research Feature Announcement

Perovskite Photonics

Submission Open: 1 March 2020

Submission Deadline: 1 June 2020

Recent progress in photonics research has led to the discovery of novel optical materials, in which metallic halide perovskites plays a large role for semiconductor photonics. Owing to their stunning optical properties, perovskites have been widely considered as promising platforms for the manipulation of photons in free space/matter based on bulk and low-dimensional systems. Recently, a series of significant efforts and breakthroughs in perovskite photonics have been reported by institutions and companies around the world, opening a bright path to demonstrating next-generation excellent-performance, low-consumption optoelectronic devices.

The Perovskite Photonics feature issue in Photonics Research will cover a broad range of topics in perovskite research, such as materials, light-matter interaction, structures, devices, fabrication, and underlying photophysics.

Topics will include but are not limited to:

  • Photonic devices based on metallic halide perovskites, including but not limited to lasers, optics switches, waveguides, LEDs, and photodetectors.
  • Light-matter interaction of perovskites, including exciton, exciton-photon interaction, and exciton-polaritons.
  • Low dimensional perovskites (nanowires, nanocrytals) with novel photonic properties.
  • Photonic structures (microcavities, photonic crystals, metasurface) for controlling photonic properties of perovskites.
  • Fabrication, materials, design of perovskite nanostructures with novel photonic properties.
