OSA Continuum

Editor-in-Chief

Frequency: Rapid article-at-a-time publication, monthly issues

Submissions will open in mid-June

First issue will publish in September

The Optical Society (OSA) will publish a new inclusive, rapid-publication, Open-Access journal, OSA Continuum. The Journal welcomes contributions from the broad optics and photonics community. OSA Continuum will publish research articles meeting OSA's high standards for technical accuracy, scientific rigor, and presentation standards rather than a judgment of impact or significance.

OSA Continuum will publish original research articles, negative results, reproducibility studies, comments and replies. A unique feature of OSA Continuum is the opportunity for authors and reviewers to agree to publish the peer review correspondence (decision letters, reviewer comments, and author response to reviews). This transparent peer review option is applicable to direct submissions to OSA Continuum as well as manuscripts that were transferred without peer review.

Article Processing Charges (APCs) are waived for all articles published in 2018. After the introductory period, OSA Continuum will offer APC discounts or waivers to authors from qualifying low- and middle-income countries.

See the 30 May 2018 press release.

Questions about OSA Continuum can be directed to the editorial staff at osacmss@osa.org.

Transfers to OSA Continuum

Authors will have the option to easily transfer manuscripts and peer review details from other OSA Journals to OSA Continuum. The transfer option is available to the author for two weeks following certain decisions in another OSA journal. Transfers can be completed with or without revisions based on reviews of the original submission. A new OSA Universal Template for manuscript preparation will help authors facilitate the transfer process. The transparent peer review option is applicable to direct submissions to OSA Continuum and manuscripts that are transferred without peer review.

Submission Instructions (submission site opens in mid-June)

Submissions should be prepared using the OSA universal manuscript templates for Word files and articles composed using LaTeX. OSA's Author Style Guide provides additional formatting instructions.

All submissions must be made using the Prism article tracking system. The following information is required during the submission process: email addresses for all co-authors, supplementary material-if applicable, funding agency name(s) and grant number(s).
