The Optical Society (OSA) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed articles in its portfolio of journals, which serve the full breadth of the optics and photonics community.
OSA Continuum is an inclusive, rapid-publication, Open-Access journal, welcoming contributions from the broad optics and photonics community. OSA Continuum publishes research articles meeting OSA's high standards for technical accuracy, scientific rigor, and presentation quality without judgment of impact or significance.
OSA Continuum will publish original research articles, negative results, reproducibility studies, comments and replies. A unique feature of OSA Continuum is the opportunity for authors and reviewers to agree to publish the peer review correspondence (decision letters, reviewer comments, and author response to reviews) associated with an article. This transparent peer review option is a first for OSA Publishing. See OSA Continuum 1 261 (2018) for an example of transparent peer review.
Article Processing Charges (APCs) are waived for all articles published in 2018 or submitted prior to 1 November 2018. After the introductory period, OSA Continuum will offer APC discounts or waivers to corresponding authors from qualifying low- and middle-income countries.

Transfers to OSA Continuum
Authors will have the option to easily transfer manuscripts and peer review details from other OSA journals to OSA Continuum. The transfer option is available to the author for two weeks following certain decisions in another OSA journal. Transfers can be completed with or without revisions based on reviews of the original submission, although revisions are encouraged in order to expedite the next decision. When authors have already received useful peer review comments the OSA Continuum editors often prefer to see a revised manuscript before taking action. The new OSA Publishing Universal Template for manuscript preparation will help authors facilitate the transfer process by eliminating the need to reformat the paper. The transparent peer review option mentioned above is applicable to manuscripts that authors transfer from another OSA journal before peer review.
All submissions must be made using the Prism article tracking system. The following information is required during the submission process: email addresses for all co-authors, supplementary material-if applicable, funding agency name(s) and grant number(s).
Click below to enter the online submission system.
Note: Authors who do not have an OSA account will be able to create one before beginning the submission process. Please do not create a new account if you have previous OSA activity.
