Optical Materials Express Feature Issue
Celebrating Optical Glass: The International Year of Glass 2022
Submissions open: 1 March 2022
Submissions close: 1 April 2022
The United Nations has designated 2022 the International Year of Glass. This feature issue will coincide with the International Year of Glass and elevate and formally recognize the historic role that optical glass has played in optical systems. Papers will highlight the advances that have made optical glass components critical to a diverse range of optical systems. Multidisciplinary submissions covering glass science, technology, and engineering, along with the optical applications of these materials, are welcome.
Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:
- Optical fibers and fiber-based devices
- Scattering, spectroscopic and nonlinear aspects of glass
- Laser-induced modification and effects in glass
- Advances in optical glass and glass ceramic manufacturing
- Engineering glass functionality – thin glass for display and beyond
- Innovation in optical glass manufacturing education and training
Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual guidelines for submission to Optical Materials Express and must be submitted online through the Prism manuscript submission system. When submitting, authors should specify that the manuscript is for the "Celebrating Optical Glass" feature issue (choose from the drop-down menu).
