Abstract

This special issue, “Liquid Crystal Materials for Photonic Applications,” within the December 2011 publication of Optical Materials Express, highlights recent advances in liquid crystal material research. It features a collection of articles on materials and device properties of blue-phase liquid crystals, dye-doped cholesteric liquid crystals, dispersions in nematic and chiral nematic liquid crystals, and of mesophase–polymer composites.
