Abstract

It is demonstrated how rulings that are based on light polarization can be used for the generation of improved moiré patterns. A simple explanation based on gratings algebra is given. A new arrangement is suggested that yields a polarization grating with a tunable-pitch or variable-width ratio of the polarization bands.
