Abstract

A phase-conjugate wave A exp(−) exp[i(kyωt)] was generated in the forward direction in physically thin Na-vapor cells by a pump wave and a signal wave A exp() with either pulsed or continuous laser radiation near the Na D line. High-order nonlinearities were readily observed with pulsed radiation, and waves with phase exp(Im ϕ) were observed up to m = ±8.
