Abstract

Light scattering from nonspherically symmetric pure dielectric structures is examined. From the finite element full-wave analysis, it is found that teardrop-shaped scatterers can focus visible light to a 10nm spot with an intensity enhancement 105 when the incident light is radially polarized.
