Abstract

An all-optical and passively carrier-to-envelope-phase-stabilized (CEP-stabilized) optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) system is demonstrated with sub-250-mrad CEP stability over 11min and better than 100mrad over 11s. This is achieved without any electronic CEP stabilization loop for 160kHz pulse repetition rate in the few cycle regime.

Layout of the OPCPA system. The mid-IR seed is derived via DFG from a two-arm fiber master oscillator power amplifier system, which ensures passive CEP stability. The pump laser is slaved to the fiber laser oscillator via locking electronics, thereby ensuring synchronization between the pump and seed pulses. The mid-IR seed is stretched in bulk sapphire, then amplified in three successive OPA stages before being compressed in a Martinez-type compressor. NLF, nonlinear fiber; DM, deformable mirror. Layout of the collinear f - 2 f interferometer. Pulses from the compressor are focussed onto a 2 mm thick YAG plate then reimaged onto a 1 mm thick β-BBO crystal to frequency double the 1200 to 1600 nm spectral region. Resulting interferences are recorded on a visible spectrometer.
