Abstract

Doppler-resolution-limited diode-laser spectra were obtained of two Q branches in the ν2 + ν7 hot-band series of C3O2: the 3ν71f + ν2 ← 2ν70 transition at 849.81 cm−1 and the 4ν70 + ν2 ← 3ν71f transition at 865.85 cm−1. Analysis of the latter of these indicates an anomalous negative centrifugal distortion term for the 4ν70 + ν2 state, leading to a band head in the Q branch.
