Nonlinear coherent polarimetry for measuring the complex nonlinear index

Abstract

A novel polarimetric technique for measuring the nonlinear change of optical polarization at a vector two-wave mixing interaction is described and demonstrated as an accurate and sensitive tool for measuring the nonlinear absorption and refraction of bacteriorhodopsin.
