Abstract

18-fs pulses from a self-mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser are amplified to 60 μJ of energy at 4.9 kHz with chirped-pulse amplification in a Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier. After recompression, 30–35-fs, near-transform-limited pulses are obtained.
