Abstract

Small-signal gain properties of Cr3+-doped LiSrAlF6 are measured for the first time to our knowledge. Maximum small-signal gain values of 0.17 cm−1 are reported for π-polarized light. For σ polarization, the gain is significantly suppressed by excited-state absorption.
