Abstract

A new experimental method has been developed for making weld-pool surface-temperature field measurements. The method requires spectral measurements of the directional emissive power and the directional emissivity of the weld pool. The technique has been successfully demonstrated for measuring the weld-pool surface-temperature field for gas tungsten arc thin-plate SS 304 welds.
