Abstract

The pressure and relative velocity at any point under a polishing pad are shown to be identical to those under the pad center when averaged over a number of cycles. This allows the wear calculations for parameters such as stroke, load, dimensions, rpm, pad, and wear constants to be performed on a hand calculator instead of a large computer.
