Abstract

We propagated transverse two-dimensional images encoded on optical pulses through a frequency window of a coupled-image-resonator-induced transparency. The optical images are stored and delayed by 10.6ns, reflec ting the tunable dispersion of the coupled resonator. The k-space bandwidth of the amplitude transfer func tion of the system is discussed in the presence of the off-resonance Fano interference effect between the two resonators.

Figures (3)

Fig. 1
Fig. 1

Schematic illustration of image propagation through coupled image resonator in the reflection geometry: M, mirror; HM, half-mirror; N, neutral density filter.

Fig. 2
Fig. 2

(a)–(d) Experimental observation of the reflection spectra from the coupled image resonator. The reflectances of the three mirrors are R 1 = 0.5 ; R 2 = 0.9 in (a), (c), and (d), while R 2 = 0.8 in (b); and R 3 = 0.99 . The detuning values were Δ ν 12 = 0 in (a) and (b), Δ ν 12 = 119 MHz in (c), and Δ ν 12 = 238 MHz in (d). The cavity lengths are L 1 = 10 cm and L 2 = 20 cm . Solid curves (red) show the experimental observation, and dotted curves (black) show the theoretical calculation based on Eq. (1). (e) Experimental observation of reflected images (in false color representation). (A), (B), (C), and (D) are at the frequencies A, B, C, and D indicated in (a).

Fig. 3
Fig. 3

Experimental observation of temporal profile of the reflected image. The dashed and solid curves are the pulse profiles at two laser detuning frequencies, A and C, shown in Fig. 2a. The origin of the time axis, i.e., τ = 0 , is taken at the pulse peak observed at the off-resonance frequency.
