Abstract

A four-layer waveguide structure for second-harmonic generation is described in which phase matching is obtained through modal dispersion. It is shown that, for realistic material parameters, it should be possible to obtain a frequency-doubling bandwidth of greater than 100 nm by proper choice of layer thicknesses.
