Feature Issue of Optics Express

Physics and Applications of Laser Dynamics

Submission Opens:1 February 2018

Submission Deadline: 15 March 2018

The Optics Express feature issue on "Physics and Applications of Laser Dynamics" aims to publish those contributions that report on the most promising results from the oral and poster presentations at the international symposium IS-PALD 2017 to be held in Paris from 15 - 17 November 2017. All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review processes of the journals. The standard Optics Express publication charges will apply to all published articles. To be eligible for publication, the expanded paper needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary. Please see OSA's guidelines on expanded conference papers here.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Photonic crystal lasers
  • Nanostructured lasers
  • Surface emitting lasers
  • Lasers on silicon
  • All-optical processing using semiconductor lasers and amplifiers
  • Short pulse lasers and mode-locked lasers, modulation dynamics, noise, etc.
  • Comb generation and optical millimeter wave generation
  • High-power lasers
  • Quantum cascade lasers, interband cascade lasers
  • Cavity solitons
  • Rogue waves and extreme events
  • Physics and engineering of nonlinear laser dynamics, including stability, bistability, periodic and aperiodic dynamics, and chaos
  • Generation, measurement, shaping, and processing of diverse waveforms based on nonlinear laser dynamics
  • Characterization, control, and synchronization of nonlinear laser dynamics
  • Applications of nonlinear laser dynamics and their waveforms

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Optics Express and must be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the Feature Issue on Physics and Applications of Laser Dynamics.
