Abstract

This paper discusses the optical properties of hollow wedge-shaped radiation concentrators (focusing wedges) from the viewpoint of the possibilities of using them in laser-diode-pumping systems. Expressions for the transmittance of a focusing wedge and the limiting allowable degree of radiation concentration are obtained analytically and by means of numerical calculations.
