Associative couplings between words according to a holographic model of memory

Abstract

The associative coupling that arises between words stored in human memory is discussed in terms of a holographic model of human memory, based on the properties of superimposed volume holograms. It is shown that two mechanisms for such coupling are possible: one accompanies nonlinearity of the hologram-recording process, and the second accompanies double diffraction of waves in the volume of the holograms. The strengths of these forms of associative coupling are found.
