Abstract

This paper proposes a new design for a retroreflector consisting of a biconvex lens with concentric surfaces, the back one having a mirror surface. Based on a calculation of the third-order aberrations and diffraction, calculated by means of the Fresnel–Kirchhoff integral in the Fraunhofer approximation, the influence of the length of the retroreflector on the axial luminous intensity is investigated.
