Abstract

This paper discusses how the geometrical characteristics and the refractive index of polymer corrugations affect the effective refractive index of long-period fiber gratings. The influence of the given parameters on the modulation amplitude of the effective refractive index of the grating as the refractive index of the surrounding medium or of the corrugation material varies is considered. The results make it possible to optimize the parameters of a periodic polymeric coating.
