Abstract

This paper discusses questions of the use of spectral devices to obtain the diffuse-reflection spectra of various samples of wood. Information is given on the importance of the problem of determining the kind and quality of trees by means of nondestructive testing devices. A portable monochromator is described that operates in the spectral range from 0.4 to 2.5 µm, developed for taking the diffuse-reflection spectra of various samples of wood under field conditions. Examples of the recorded spectra are demonstrated.
