Abstract

This paper discusses the oblique propagation of light through a planar layer of cholesteric liquid crystal. The problem is solved by Ambartsumyan’s method of composition of layers. The results of a study of the features of the eigenpolarizations (EPs) and the eigenvalues of the transfer function for a comprehensive analysis are given. It is shown that the ellipticity of the EPs tends to zero nonmonotonically as the angle of incidence increases.
