Abstract

This paper discusses the main stages of the work of the S. I. Vavilov State Optical Institute on the creation of optoelectronic apparatus for detecting the flares of ballistic missiles undergoing takeoff, for the space echelon of this country's antimissile system in the 1960s and until the present. A complex of fundamental and applied studies, a search for engineering and technical solutions, and a large volume of work on the investigation, refinement, and standardization of the initial data as applied to various objects and facilities has been carried out to create detection apparatus in accordance with the specific requirements of the purchaser.
