Abstract

This paper proposes new principles for constructing ruling engines, based on the use of the dynamic properties of a physical pendulum and supports with elasticity friction. The resulting mathematical model of the process of shaping a line of a ruled periodic relief-phase structure is presented as a function of the dynamics of the cutting carriage and of other external active factors. A description is given of a prototype of a pendulum-type ruling engine. The results of numerical modelling and field studies of the prototype are discussed.
