Abstract

Theoretical estimates are made of the contribution of collisional quenching of highly excited Rydberg states of a neutral gas in the earth's ionosphere. It is shown that this quenching is not substantial for the energetics of the microwave radiation of the ionosphere in a large range of altitudes.
