Abstract

This paper discusses two ways to shape the 1.7-m-diameter primary mirror of the T-170M telescope of the Spectrum-UV Project. Various versions of the unloading of the primary mirror in a processing mount at its fabrication stage are analyzed. Finite-element modeling is used to obtain the strains of the optical surface of the mirror for different versions of process unloading. The influence of residual strains of the mirror's optical surface on the image quality is estimated.
