Abstract

This paper discusses the effect of a F- impurity ion on the spectrokinetic parameters and the thermally stimulated luminescence of Gd2O2S-Tb(Ce) and Gd2O2S ceramics. A relationship is established between the absorption and excitation bands in the 330-380-nm region and the trapping centers responsible for the thermal peaks at 310-360 K. It is shown that the transparent ceramic Gd2O2S-Tb, Ce(F) is characterized by rapid damping of the x-ray luminescence (I/I_0 is less than 0.004% after 500 ms). © 2005 Optical Society of America
