Abstract

The cross section of electromagnetic radiation for absorption by a bimetallic cylindrical particle has been computed. The general case is considered, in which the ratio of the radius of the core to the radius of the particle, made from another metal, can assume arbitrary values. It is assumed as the boundary conditions of the problem that the electrons undergo diffuse reflection from the inner and outer surfaces of the metallic layer of the particle. The limiting cases are considered, and the results are discussed. © 2005 Optical Society of America
