This paper gives a photophysical basis for the phenomena of the reduction of the efficiency of holographic amplification, as well as of "self-amplification" of the self-recording of the recording radiation in dynamic holograms obtained in dye solutions with optically controllable spectral sensitivity. A comparison of the data of the holographic studies with the data of kinetic luminescence experiments showed that, when the intensities of the controlling and recording radiations are increased, the predominant influence on the characteristics of the holographic dynamic amplification is from the mechanism of cascade photoconversions of induced absorption centers. Attention is called to the fact that the dependence of the induced absorption on the power of the recording radiation as a consequence of the cascade formation of reversible photoconversion products makes it incorrect to use the theory of dynamic holograms with linear absorption. © 2004 Optical Society of America
