Abstract

This paper is a brief review of the features by which diamond microfinishing technology is used to create complex optical elements. Experimental studies are described that substantiate the choice of the cutting force as the main criterion of the accuracy with which optical surfaces are shaped by diamond microfinishing. © 2004 Optical Society of America
