Abstract

This paper discusses Fraunhofer diffraction on samples of knitted hosiery fabric in one and two layers with parallel orientation of the loop rows in the layers and a parallel shift relative to each other. It is shown that no substantial change of the position of the principal maxima in the diffraction pattern occurs in this case. This result is explained, using as an example computer modelling of the diffraction patterns in terms of the Fresnel-Kirchhoff approximation from two mesh structures superimposed on each other with the same repetition period of the threads along the x and y axes. © 2004 Optical Society of America
