How fluctuations of the optical thickness of the layers affect the characteristics of anti-reflection interference coatings

Abstract

This paper gives an estimate of how the quality of the polished surface of an optical item and of the surface roughness of layers affects the characteristics of an antireflection coating. The results of the estimates agree well with experimental data on antireflection coatings for the IR region.
