Abstract
A technique for the synthesis of NaBaPO4:Eu2+ phosphors with increased dispersity via sol-gel precipitation and subsequent high-temperature annealing in molten NaCl is developed. The synthesized NaBaPO4:Eu2+ phosphor has a nanocrystalline structure and its annealing in molten NaCl is shown to reduce the average particle size by a factor of 3.8 while increasing the content of the finely dispersed (i.e., particle sizes <1 μm) fraction of the phosphor by a factor of 11 by comparison with the phosphor synthesized by the traditional sol-gel method. We establish that the synthesized NaBaPO4:Eu2+ phosphors contain four types of luminescence centers and construct their resulting energy diagram.
