How filtering affects the statistical characteristics of images when a linear-predictor model is implemented by Fourier holography

Abstract

This paper discusses how spatial-frequency filtering in the 4f scheme of Fourier holography, determined by limiting the dynamic range of the recording medium, affects the homogeneity of the processed image with respect to the first two statistical moments. When numerical modelling is carried out, models of the filters are used that are adequate to the actual characteristics of Fourier holograms. Dependences are obtained that connect the estimates of the homogeneity from the mean and variance with the characteristics of the image and the filter.
