Abstract

This paper presents experimental studies of a thermal lens induced in a Tm:YLF crystal under the action of continuous longitudinal pumping by a linear array of diode lasers. A technique is described for measuring the parameters of the thermal lens. It is found that a weak positive lens is formed in a Tm:YLF crystal in the plane of the principal optic axis of the crystal, with its focal power weakly depending on the pump power, while a negative lens that strongly depends on the pump power is formed in a plane perpendicular to the crystal's optic axis.
