Abstract

A technique has been developed for recording the luminescence spectra of laser glasses at various temperatures. The influence of heating on the luminescence contour of highly concentrated ytterbium-erbium phosphate glass has been experimentally investigated for the principal laser transition at 1.5 μm. It is shown that, as the temperature increases, the effective stimulated-emission cross section at the maximum linearly decreases, and the width of the contour increases.
