Abstract

This paper discusses the limiting parameters of multiphonon Bragg diffraction in single-crystal TeO2. Seven orders of diffraction are obtained experimentally. It is shown that both the anisotropic and the isotropic forms of the acoustooptic coupling in TeO2 need to be taken into account in order to describe the experimental results. It is also shown that the appearance of the higher orders of diffraction substantially depends on the acoustooptic coupling length. © 2005 Optical Society of America
