Abstract

This paper discusses the possibility of using the thermal effect at the site of laser drilling of material in order to form an additional optical lens in the processing zone. It is shown that the numerical aperture of an induced gas thermal lens can reach values of 0.025-0.03. © 2004 Optical Society of America
