Correlation gas-filter analyzer with microprocessor signal processing

Abstract

This paper presents an optical layout for a correlation gas-filter analyzer that combines the reference and measurement channels and makes it possible to minimize the size of the device and the number of optical elements. A signal-processing algorithm is described that makes it possible to normalize the useful signal with the signal that carries information concerning the nonselective component of the radiation and is independent of the selective component. This makes the readings of the gas analyzer independent of variations of the nonselective component of the radiation. The algorithm is implemented in software in a microprocessor, and this makes it easy to process, store, and archive the data. © 2004 Optical Society of America
